Our Team




Nancy Murphy

Nancy has been a member of FASNZ for 30 years. She has held positions in Club administration, Area administration and been a FASNZ board member for 3, four year terms. She is currently the National President and WAFA NZ Host Committee Chairperson. She is a National Teacher, Judge and Lecturer, has competed at three World Shows and attended three WAFA Seminars.


Marion Shaw

Marion is a Past President and Past Secretary of FASNZ. A qualified National Teacher and Judge and currently Secretary of her club.

Marion has also held positions on Waikato Area. She attended the seminar in India and 2 World Shows.


Beryl Watson

Beryl has a background in office management which has included work with finances. She has held the positions of Secretary and President of New Plymouth Floral Art Club as well as Taranaki Area Treasurer. Over the past 25 years she has been a regular attendee at FASNZ Conferences. In 2020 she joined the delegation to India for the World Show. She has gained two special FASNZ diary awards for her Indigenous and Period work.


Leigh Greenstreet

Leigh got her BA at the University of Auckland then taught English and Music at secondary school level. Leigh is now a teacher, lecturer and judge for FASNZ. She has won the Auckland Designer of the Year three times and was in charge of Auckland’s education programme for seven years, convening 5 National Education Units, before taking on the role of Show Chair for WAFA NZ. She has competed at two World Shows.


Barb Higgins

Barb has been involved with Floral Art in NZ for the last 20 years. She is qualified as a national teacher and judge. She has held positions on the National Board, Area administration and at Club level. As the current Chairperson of the New Zealand Academy of Design, she has an automatic seat on the FASNZ Education Board. Barb is also the current New Zealand Designer of the Year.


Francine Thomas

Francine is a FASNZ Board Member, National Teacher, Judge, Demonstrator and Lecturer. She is also a previous winner of the New Zealand Designer of the Year. Francine represented New Zealand in WAFA Ireland as our national demonstrator and also competed. Francine is well known internationally where she regularly teaches and demonstrates.


Pat Murdoch

Pat sees her position as Hospitality Convenor in WAFA NZ as an exciting role.

She spent part of her career managing troubleshooting teams where she enjoyed interacting with the public.

Floral art is now her passion and she is the immediate Past Auckland Area Chairperson and current club President.


Heather Hammond

Heather is a Life Member and Past President of the Floral Society of New Zealand Inc as well as a past editor of the FASNZ magazine Floral Focus. She attended five WAFA World Shows in various roles, from Delegate to Demonstrator and Competitor. She also participated in one WAFA Seminar. Heather is a dairy farmer, retired florist and the recipient of the Muriel De Stefano award for services to New Zealand Floral Art.


Marianne Gibson

Marianne’s association with floral art began in 2004 as a result of a membership drive through her local Club. After serving her Club and Area for many years in the roles of Secretary and President, she was appointed FASNZ Inc Secretary in 2014. During this time she has completed 3 education units towards a Diploma in Teaching or Judging. She was elected to the position of FASNZ Inc Vice President in 2019, and as WAFA NZ Liaison Officer she is looking forward to her first World Show in India
